Les and Tracy Stanley travel extensively, well they had, until (the dreaded) COVID (virus) wreaked havoc to their voyages/travel plans. Like millions of others, they stayed home and wistfully watched TV show like Getaway, dreaming of the day when they would dust off their suitcases, check that their passports were up to date and peruse airline and rail timetables.
Les fretted. Being the older one in the relationship, he was concerned that his advancing years and intermittent back problems would mean that he may never again, go on a grand adventure. Tracy was more reluctant and circumspect, concerned about the impact of being ill on foreign shores. She tracked the ever-mutating form of the virus on twitter, respectfully marvelling and being simultaneously horrified at its capacity to change shape, form and impact. The bastard!
This book has been written for everyone who wants to travel and is worried about getting COVID. Potentially devastating illnesses aside, Cannes Encore is a delightful travel memoir described through the eyes of baby boomer travellers Les and Tracy Stanley.
